About Early Head Start
Early Head Start promotes healthy prenatal outcomes, enhances the development of infants and toddlers, and promotes healthy family functioning.
Early Head Start offers home-based and center-based services, weekly play groups, developmental screenings, and developmentally appropriate educational activities for infants and toddlers ages birth to 3 in Aurora, Elgin, and Carpentersville. The goals are to support parents in their roles as primary caregivers and educators of their children and to promote the development of infants and toddlers.
In Early Head Start, children receive the warm, responsive, and individualized attention they need to grow, learn, and feel good about themselves. Parents are recognized as being critical to their children's success.
Staff works with families to identify family goals, strengths and any needed services to achieve their goals. Each family has the opportunity to develop an individualized family partnership agreement that describes family goals, responsibilities with timetables and strategies for achieving these goals.
All of our programs are geared toward making children successful. We teach our children to use language effectively. We help them develop an interest and curiosity about the world. We encourage them to express themselves creatively. We also educate them on how to handle their emotions in a positive and constructive way. Early Head Start teaches children to learn, explore and play.
