The Community Services Block Grant program (CSBG) is funded by the Dept. of Commerce & Economic Opportunity. There is a CSBG grant in every county in the state of Illinois. At Two Rivers Head Start we operate the CSBG grant for Kane county. We operate two CSBG offices in Kane county. One in Aurora and the other in Elgin.
The CSBG program is designed to provide a range of services which assist eligible individuals to attain skills, knowledge, and motivation necessary to achieve self sufficiency. The program also may provide individuals with immediate life necessities such as food, shelter or medicine.

Provides limited financial assistance for medical & dental care, eye glasses and gasoline.
Distributes USDA Government commodities & purchased food. Pantries are located in Aurora & Elgin, click on Locations for hours of operation.
Assists working parents with children in day care by paying 50% of their weekly co-payment.
Assists individuals with car repairs to enable them to maintain employment.
Assists small businesses in creating jobs for CSBG eligible persons.
Provides comprehensive assessment, information, advocacy and referral services to CSBG eligible veterans.
Provides shoe cards to purchase a new pair of shoes for children as they return to school in September.
